Article L3232-5 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Departments may finance or implement forest management, equipment and monitoring actions in order, on the one hand, to prevent fires and, where applicable, to facilitate fire-fighting operations and, on the other hand, to restore forests. Where applicable, these actions are part of the plan defined in article L. 133-2 of the Forestry Code.

Les départements peuvent financer ou mettre en œuvre des actions d’aménagement, d’équipement et de surveillance des forêts afin, d’une part, de prévenir les incendies et, le cas échéant, de faciliter les opérations de lutte et, d’autre part, de reconstituer les forêts. Ces actions s’inscrivent, le cas échéant, dans le cadre du plan défini à l’article L. 133-2 du code forestier.
