For the implementation of the treatment injunction provided for by article 131-36-4 of the French Penal Code and articles 723-30 and 731-1 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure, the sentence enforcement judge appoints a coordinating doctor from a list of psychiatrists or doctors who have undergone appropriate training, drawn up by the public prosecutor:
° Inviting the convicted offender, in the light of the expert assessments carried out during the proceedings and, where applicable, during the execution of the custodial sentence, to choose a treating physician. In the event of persistent disagreement over the choice made, the doctor is appointed by the sentence enforcement judge, after consulting the coordinating doctor;
° Advising the attending doctor if the latter so requests;
° Forwarding to the sentence enforcement judge or probation officer the information required to monitor the treatment order;
° To inform, in liaison with the attending physician, the convicted offender whose socio-judicial supervision, probationary suspension or judicial supervision has come to an end, or the convicted offender who has been released on parole, of the possibility of continuing his treatment in the absence of supervision by the judicial authority and to inform him of the methods and duration that he considers necessary and reasonable, particularly in view of the progress of the treatment in progress;
° To cooperate in carrying out periodic evaluations of the care order system and in training and study initiatives.
