Article L422-2 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The residence permit provided for in article L. 422-1 is also issued on first admission to residence, without having to provide proof of their living conditions and without the condition provided for in article L. 412-1 being required, to foreign nationals who have passed the competitive entrance exam to a higher education establishment that has signed an agreement with the State.

Article L422-2

La carte de séjour prévue à l’article L. 422-1 est également délivrée lors de sa première admission au séjour, sans avoir à justifier de ses conditions d’existence et sans que soit exigée la condition prévue à l’article L. 412-1, à l’étranger ayant satisfait aux épreuves du concours d’entrée dans un établissement d’enseignement supérieur ayant signé une convention avec l’Etat.
