Article L423-15 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

A foreign national who has been authorised to reside in France for the purposes of family reunification under the conditions laid down in Chapter IV of Title III and at least one of whose parents holds a temporary residence permit, a multi-annual residence permit or a resident permit shall be issued, within one year of his/her eighteenth birthday or between his/her sixteenth and eighteenth birthdays if he/she falls within the scope of article L. 421-35, a temporary residence permit bearing the words “vie privée et familiale” (“private and family life”) for a period of one year.

L’étranger qui a été autorisé à séjourner en France au titre du regroupement familial dans les conditions prévues au chapitre IV du titre III et dont l’un des parents au moins est titulaire d’une carte de séjour temporaire, d’une carte de séjour pluriannuelle ou d’une carte de résident se voit délivrer, dans l’année qui suit son dix-huitième anniversaire ou entre ses seize et dix-huit ans s’il entre dans les prévisions de l’article L. 421-35, une carte de séjour temporaire portant la mention ” vie privée et familiale ” d’une durée d’un an.
