Article L4241-1 of the French Public Health Code

Pharmacy assistants are the only people authorised to help the pharmacy owner and the pharmacists assisting him/her in preparing and dispensing medicines for human and veterinary medicine to the public. They may administer certain vaccines under the supervision of a pharmacist. An order of the Minister for Health, issued after obtaining the opinion of the Haute Autorité de Santé, determines the list of vaccines covered by this paragraph, the list of persons likely to benefit from these vaccines and the conditions under which pharmacy assistants may administer these vaccines.

They carry out their duties under the responsibility and effective control of a pharmacist. They remain criminally liable.

Les préparateurs en pharmacie sont seuls autorisés à seconder le titulaire de l’officine et les pharmaciens qui l’assistent dans la préparation et la délivrance au public des médicaments destinés à la médecine humaine et à la médecine vétérinaire. Ils peuvent administrer certains vaccins sous la supervision d’un pharmacien. Un arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé, pris après avis de la Haute Autorité de santé, détermine la liste des vaccins relevant du présent alinéa, la liste des personnes susceptibles de bénéficier de ces vaccins et les conditions dans lesquelles les préparateurs en pharmacie peuvent administrer ces vaccins.

Ils assument leurs tâches sous la responsabilité et le contrôle effectif d’un pharmacien. Leur responsabilité pénale demeure engagée.
