Article L425-10 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The foreign parents of a foreign minor who meets the conditions laid down in article L. 425-9, or the foreign national who holds a court order granting him or her parental authority over the minor, will be issued with a temporary residence permit for a maximum period of six months, provided that they can prove that they usually live in France with the minor and provide for his or her upkeep and education. The condition laid down in article L. 412-1 does not apply.
This temporary residence permit entitles the holder to work.
It is renewed for the duration of the foreign minor’s medical treatment, provided that the conditions laid down for its issue continue to be met.
It is issued by the administrative authority, following the opinion of a panel of doctors from the medical department of the French Office for Immigration and Integration, under the conditions laid down in article L. 425-9.

Article L425-10

Les parents étrangers de l’étranger mineur qui remplit les conditions prévues à l’article L. 425-9, ou l’étranger titulaire d’un jugement lui ayant conféré l’exercice de l’autorité parentale sur ce mineur, se voient délivrer, sous réserve qu’ils justifient résider habituellement en France avec lui et subvenir à son entretien et à son éducation, une autorisation provisoire de séjour d’une durée maximale de six mois. La condition prévue à l’article L. 412-1 n’est pas opposable.
Cette autorisation provisoire de séjour ouvre droit à l’exercice d’une activité professionnelle.
Elle est renouvelée pendant toute la durée de la prise en charge médicale de l’étranger mineur, sous réserve que les conditions prévues pour sa délivrance continuent d’être satisfaites.
Elle est délivrée par l’autorité administrative, après avis d’un collège de médecins du service médical de l’Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration, dans les conditions prévues à l’article L. 425-9.
