Article L4252-1 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

As part of regionalised planning and establishment location plans, the region defines and develops regional technology clusters. It determines multi-annual programmes of regional interest.

The region is involved in drawing up national research and technology policy; it participates in its implementation.

In particular, it ensures the dissemination and development of new technologies, scientific and technical training and information, the improvement of existing technologies, the decompartmentalisation of research and its integration into the economic, social and cultural development of the region.

Dans le cadre de la planification régionalisée et des plans de localisation des établissements, la région définit et développe des pôles technologiques régionaux. Elle détermine des programmes pluriannuels d’intérêt régional.

La région est associée à l’élaboration de la politique nationale de la recherche et de la technologie ; elle participe à sa mise en oeuvre.

Elle veille en particulier à la diffusion et au développement des nouvelles technologies, de la formation et de l’information scientifiques et techniques, à l’amélioration des technologies existantes, au décloisonnement de la recherche et à son intégration dans le développement économique, social et culturel de la région.
