A national order of nurses is instituted, which must include all nurses entitled to practise their profession in France.
The national order of nurses shall maintain the ethical principles and develop the skills that are essential to the practice of the profession. It helps to promote public health and quality of care.
The national council of the order prepares a code of ethics, issued in the form of a decree by the Council of State. This code sets out the duties of nurses in their dealings with patients, other members of the profession and other healthcare professionals.
In accordance with the provisions of article L. 4061-1, nurses covered by the provisions of article L. 4138-2 of the Defence Code are not entered on any roll of the Order.
