Article L4342-2 of the French Public Health Code

Persons who have obtained the evidence of formal qualifications or authorisation required to practise as an orthoptist must register with the department or body designated for this purpose by the Minister responsible for health before entering the profession.

Such persons shall be registered after verification of the supporting documents attesting to their identity and their evidence of formal qualifications or authorisation. They must inform the same department or body of any change in their professional situation.

The registration procedure is free of charge.

A list of this profession shall be drawn up for each département by the department or body designated for this purpose and made available to the public.

Subject to the provisions of article L. 4061-1, an orthoptist may only practise his profession if his diplomas, certificates, titles or authorisations have been registered in accordance with the first paragraph.

The provisions of Articles L. 4311-26 and L. 4311-27 shall apply to orthoptists.

Detailed rules for the application of this article shall be laid down by decree.

Article L4342-2

Sont tenues de se faire enregistrer auprès du service ou de l’organisme désigné à cette fin par le ministre chargé de la santé, avant leur entrée dans la profession, les personnes ayant obtenu un titre de formation ou une autorisation requis pour l’exercice de la profession d’orthoptiste.

L’enregistrement de ces personnes est réalisé après vérification des pièces justificatives attestant de leur identité et de leur titre de formation ou de leur autorisation. Elles informent le même service ou organisme de tout changement de situation professionnelle.

La procédure d’enregistrement est sans frais.

Il est établi, pour chaque département, par le service ou l’organisme désigné à cette fin, une liste de cette profession, portée à la connaissance du public.

Sous réserve des dispositions de l’article L. 4061-1, un orthoptiste ne peut exercer sa profession que si ses diplômes, certificats, titres ou autorisation ont été enregistrés conformément au premier alinéa.

Les dispositions des articles L. 4311-26 et L. 4311-27 sont applicables aux orthoptistes.

Les modalités d’application du présent article sont fixées par décret.
