Article L4393-9 of the French Public Health Code

The profession of dental assistant may be practised by holders of the French training qualification entitling them to practise this profession.

The terms and conditions of the training, in particular the conditions of access, the skills reference framework and the procedures for awarding this qualification, are laid down by order of the Minister for Health, following the opinion of a commission comprising representatives of the State, dental surgeons and dental assistants, the composition of which is laid down by decree.

Peuvent exercer la profession d’assistant dentaire les personnes titulaires du titre de formation français permettant l’exercice de cette profession.

Les modalités de la formation, notamment les conditions d’accès, le référentiel des compétences ainsi que les modalités de délivrance de ce titre, sont fixées par arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé, après avis d’une commission comprenant des représentants de l’Etat et des chirurgiens-dentistes et des assistants dentaires, dont la composition est fixée par décret.
