Article L446-3 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

A temporary residence permit authorising the exercise of a professional activity in New Caledonia in compliance with locally applicable legislation and regulations may be issued to foreign nationals who come to New Caledonia to exercise a professional activity not subject to authorisation and who can prove that they can live on their own resources. It specifies the activity that the holder intends to pursue.

Une carte de séjour temporaire autorisant l’exercice d’une activité professionnelle en Nouvelle-Calédonie dans le respect de la législation et de la réglementation applicables localement peut être délivrée à l’étranger qui vient exercer une activité professionnelle non soumise à autorisation et qui justifie pouvoir vivre de ses seules ressources. Elle porte la mention de l’activité que le titulaire entend exercer.
