I.- Medicinal product for human use means any substance or combination of substances presented as having properties for treating or preventing disease in human beings, as well as any substance or combination of substances which may be used in human beings or which may be administered to human beings with a view to making a medical diagnosis or to restoring, correcting or modifying physiological functions by exerting a pharmacological, immunological or metabolic action.
Dietetic products which contain in their composition chemical or biological substances which do not themselves constitute foodstuffs, but the presence of which confers on these products either special properties sought after in dietetic therapy, or properties of a test meal, are in particular considered to be medicinal products.
Products used for disinfecting premises and for dental prostheses are not considered to be medicinal products.
II- A veterinary medicinal product is any medicinal product as defined by article L. 5141-2.
III -When, having regard to all its characteristics, a product is likely to meet both the definition of a medicinal product provided for in the first paragraph of I and in II and that of other categories of products governed by European or national law, it is, in case of doubt, considered to be a medicinal product.
