Article L531-22 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The Office Français de Protection des Réfugiés et Apatrides (French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons) will notify the asylum seeker of its decision in writing, by any means guaranteeing confidentiality and personal receipt of this notification. Reasons must be given for any rejection decision in fact and in law, and the appeal procedures and deadlines must be specified. No decision may arise from silence kept by the Office.

L’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides notifie par écrit sa décision au demandeur d’asile, par tout moyen garantissant la confidentialité et la réception personnelle de cette notification. Toute décision de rejet est motivée en fait et en droit et précise les voies et délais de recours. Aucune décision ne peut naître du silence gardé par l’office.
