Article L531-38 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons may take a decision to close the examination of an application in the following cases:
1° The applicant, without a legitimate reason, has submitted his or her application to the Office by failing to comply with the time limits laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat and running from the submission of his or her asylum application certificate or has failed to attend the interview at the Office;
2° The applicant deliberately and flagrantly refuses to provide information essential to the examination of his or her application pursuant to Article L. 531-5;
3° The applicant has not informed the Office, within a reasonable time, of their place of residence or address and cannot be contacted for the purposes of examining their asylum application.

L’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides peut prendre une décision de clôture d’examen d’une demande dans les cas suivants :
1° Le demandeur, sans motif légitime, a introduit sa demande à l’office en ne respectant pas les délais prévus par décret en Conseil d’Etat et courant à compter de la remise de son attestation de demande d’asile ou ne s’est pas présenté à l’entretien à l’office ;
2° Le demandeur refuse, de manière délibérée et caractérisée, de fournir des informations essentielles à l’examen de sa demande en application de l’article L. 531-5 ;
3° Le demandeur n’a pas informé l’office, dans un délai raisonnable, de son lieu de résidence ou de son adresse et ne peut être contacté aux fins d’examen de sa demande d’asile.
