Article L5425-9 of the French Labour Code

Workers who have lost their jobs and are in receipt of a replacement income may, for a limited period of time, carry out tasks of general interest approved by the administrative authority. Their compensation may be supplemented by remuneration paid directly by the organisation employing them. A decree of the Conseil d’Etat will determine the application of this article.

Les travailleurs privés d’emploi, bénéficiaires d’un revenu de remplacement, peuvent accomplir pendant une durée limitée des tâches d’intérêt général agréées par l’autorité administrative. Leur indemnisation peut être complétée par une rémunération directement versée par l’organisme qui les emploie. Un décret en Conseil d’Etat détermine les mesures d’application du présent article.
