Article L5442-5 of the French Public Health Code

Where the judicial authority is prosecuted for an infringement of the provisions of this chapter, the administrative authority may, if the interests of public hygiene or animal health so require, order the temporary closure of the establishment.

Natural persons guilty of an offence under this chapter shall incur the additional penalty of temporary or permanent closure of the establishment.

A decree in the Conseil d’Etat shall lay down the procedures for applying this article.

Lorsque l’autorité judiciaire est saisie d’une poursuite pour infraction aux dispositions du présent chapitre, l’autorité administrative peut, si l’intérêt de l’hygiène publique ou de la santé animale l’exige, prononcer la fermeture provisoire de l’établissement.

Les personnes physiques coupables d’une infraction prévue au présent chapitre encourent la peine complémentaire de la fermeture temporaire ou définitive de l’établissement.

Un décret en Conseil d’Etat fixe les modalités d’application du présent article.
