Article L612-10 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

To set the duration of the re-entry bans referred to in articles L. 612-6 and L. 612-7, the administrative authority shall take into account the length of time the foreign national has been present on French territory, the nature and length of his or her links with France, whether or not he or she has already been subject to a removal order and the threat to public order posed by his or her presence on French territory.
The same applies to the issuing and duration of the re-entry ban referred to in article L. 612-8 as well as to the extension of the re-entry ban provided for in article L. 612-11.

Article L612-10

Pour fixer la durée des interdictions de retour mentionnées aux articles L. 612-6 et L. 612-7, l’autorité administrative tient compte de la durée de présence de l’étranger sur le territoire français, de la nature et de l’ancienneté de ses liens avec la France, de la circonstance qu’il a déjà fait l’objet ou non d’une mesure d’éloignement et de la menace pour l’ordre public que représente sa présence sur le territoire français.
Il en est de même pour l’édiction et la durée de l’interdiction de retour mentionnée à l’article L. 612-8 ainsi que pour la prolongation de l’interdiction de retour prévue à l’article L. 612-11.
