For the purposes of this book, a medical biologist is :
1° Either a doctor holding one of the evidence of formal qualifications mentioned in article L. 4131-1, or a pharmacist holding one of the evidence of formal qualifications mentioned in articles L. 4221-2, L. 4221-4 and L. 4221-5, who also has:
a) Or a specialist diploma in medical biology, the list of which is set by order of the Minister for Health ;
b) Or a qualification in medical biology issued by the Order of Physicians or the Order of Pharmacists, or by the Minister of Defence for practitioners in the armed forces, under conditions laid down by decree in the Council of State;
2° Either a doctor authorised to practise medical biology pursuant to articles L. 4111-2 and L. 4131-1-1 or a pharmacist authorised to practise medical biology pursuant to articles L. 4221-9, L. 4221-12, L. 4221-14-1 and L. 4221-14-2 ;
Doctors and pharmacists authorised to practise medicine or pharmacy in France may apply to the relevant association for a qualification in medical biology.
