Article L6213-2-1 of the French Public Health Code

In hospitals and university centres and in establishments linked by agreement in application of article L. 6142-5, medical doctors or pharmacists, not qualified in medical biology and recruited in a mixed discipline, may, by decision of the Minister for Health and the Minister for Higher Education and Research, carry out the duties of medical biologist, after receiving the opinion of the committee referred to in article L. 6213-12, when they can prove that they have actually worked for a period of three years in medical biology structures and laboratories. These professionals carry out their duties in the field of specialisation corresponding to the mixed and biological disciplines defined by order of the Minister for Health and the Minister for Higher Education and Research.

Dans les centres hospitaliers et universitaires et dans les établissements liés par convention en application de l’article L. 6142-5, des professionnels médecins ou pharmaciens, non qualifiés en biologie médicale et recrutés dans une discipline mixte, exercent, sur décision du ministre chargé de la santé et du ministre chargé de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche, les fonctions de biologiste médical, après avis de la commission mentionnée à l’article L. 6213-12, lorsqu’ils justifient d’un exercice effectif d’une durée de trois ans dans des structures et laboratoires de biologie médicale. Ces professionnels exercent leurs fonctions dans le domaine de spécialisation correspondant aux disciplines mixtes et biologiques définies par arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé et du ministre chargé de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche.
