The following may also practise as medical biologists:
1° From the date of entry into force of Ordinance no. 2010-49 of 13 January 2010 on medical biology, a person who fulfils the conditions for practising medical biology or who has practised medical biology in a public health establishment, in a private health establishment of public interest, at the Etablissement français du sang, or within the armed forces health service, either full-time or part-time, for a period equivalent to two years over the last ten years. For people who began practising medical biology between 13 January 2008 and 13 January 2010, the two-year period taken into account ends on 13 January 2012 at the latest. However, if this person has only practised medical biology in a given area of specialisation, he may only work as a medical biologist in this area of specialisation. When recognition of this area of specialisation is not the result either of a diploma or a competitive examination, or of an authorisation or approval issued by the competent authority, validation is carried out by the Minister for Health after obtaining the opinion of the committee referred to in Article L. 6213-12 ;
2° A veterinary surgeon who began specialised training in medical biology before the date of publication of the aforementioned Order and who obtained his or her specialisation in medical biology no later than six years after the date of publication of the aforementioned Order;
3° The director or deputy director of a national reference centre for the fight against transmissible diseases mentioned in articles L. 1413-3 and L. 1413-8, by authorisation of the Minister for Health or, by delegation, of the Director General of the National Management Centre, following the opinion of the commission provided for in article L. 6213-12.
4° A doctor or pharmacist assigned to a medical biology laboratory under the authority of the Minister of Defence and not on the list provided for in Article L 6147-7, by authorisation from the Minister of Health, after consulting the committee provided for in Article L. 6213-12, in his laboratory’s area of specialisation.
