Article L6221-1 of the French Labour Code

An apprenticeship contract is a special type of employment contract between an apprentice or their legal representative and an employer.

As well as paying a salary, the employer undertakes to provide the apprentice with full vocational training, some of which is given in the company and some in an apprentice training centre or apprenticeship section.

In return, the apprentice undertakes, with a view to his training, to work for the employer for the duration of the contract and to follow the training.

Le contrat d’apprentissage est un contrat de travail de type particulier conclu entre un apprenti ou son représentant légal et un employeur.

L’employeur s’engage, outre le versement d’un salaire, à assurer à l’apprenti une formation professionnelle complète, dispensée pour partie en entreprise et pour partie en centre de formation d’apprentis ou section d’apprentissage.

L’apprenti s’oblige, en retour, en vue de sa formation, à travailler pour cet employeur, pendant la durée du contrat, et à suivre cette formation.
