Article LO6224-2 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

I. – The members of the territorial council receive, for the effective exercise of their functions, an indemnity fixed by the territorial council by reference to the amount of the salary corresponding to the terminal gross index of the index scale of the State civil service.

The functional indemnity voted by the territorial council for the effective exercise of the functions of territorial councillor is at most equal to 50% of the reference term mentioned in the first paragraph.

The functional allowance voted by the territorial council for the actual exercise of the functions of president of the territorial council is at most equal to the reference term mentioned in the first paragraph increased by 45%.

The allowance for each of the vice-presidents of the territorial council is at most equal to the maximum allowance for a territorial councillor increased by 40%.

The functional allowance for each of the members of the executive council other than the president and vice-presidents is at most equal to the maximum allowance for a territorial councillor increased by 10%.

II. – The Territorial Council may, under conditions set by its internal regulations, reduce the amount of the allowances it allocates to its members according to their attendance at plenary sittings, meetings of committees of which they are members and meetings of bodies in which they represent the local authority, without this reduction exceeding, for each of them, half of the maximum allowance that may be allocated to him pursuant to this article.

III. – When the Territorial Council is renewed, the deliberation fixing the allowances of its members pursuant to this section shall take place within three months of its installation.

Any deliberation of the Territorial Council concerning the functional allowances of one or more of its members shall be accompanied by an appended table summarising all the allowances allocated to the members of the Territorial Council.

I. – Les membres du conseil territorial reçoivent pour l’exercice effectif de leurs fonctions une indemnité fixée par le conseil territorial par référence au montant du traitement correspondant à l’indice brut terminal de l’échelle indiciaire de la fonction publique de l’Etat.

L’indemnité de fonction votée par le conseil territorial pour l’exercice effectif des fonctions de conseiller territorial est au maximum égale à 50 % du terme de référence mentionné au premier alinéa.

L’indemnité de fonction votée par le conseil territorial pour l’exercice effectif des fonctions de président du conseil territorial est au maximum égale au terme de référence mentionné au premier alinéa majoré de 45 %.

L’indemnité de chacun des vice-présidents du conseil territorial est au maximum égale à l’indemnité maximale de conseiller territorial majorée de 40 %.

L’indemnité de fonction de chacun des membres du conseil exécutif autres que le président et les vice-présidents est au maximum égale à l’indemnité maximale de conseiller territorial majorée de 10 %.

II. – Le conseil territorial peut, dans des conditions fixées par son règlement intérieur, réduire le montant des indemnités qu’il alloue à ses membres en fonction de leur participation aux séances plénières, aux réunions des commissions dont ils sont membres et aux réunions des organismes dans lesquels ils représentent la collectivité, sans que cette réduction puisse dépasser, pour chacun d’entre eux, la moitié de l’indemnité maximale pouvant lui être allouée en application du présent article.

III. – Lorsque le conseil territorial est renouvelé, la délibération fixant les indemnités de ses membres en application de la présente section intervient dans les trois mois suivant son installation.

Toute délibération du conseil territorial concernant les indemnités de fonction d’un ou de plusieurs de ses membres est accompagnée d’un tableau annexe récapitulant l’ensemble des indemnités allouées aux membres du conseil territorial.
