Article LO6463-3 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Subject to the provisions of Chapter II of this Title, the Executive Council may, within the framework of the prerogatives conferred upon it by this Chapter, entrust each of its members with the management and control of a sector of the administration by a deliberation taken within ten days of the election of the members of the Executive Council.

The individual powers of the Executive Councillors shall be exercised within the framework of the decisions taken by the Executive Council. Each Executive Councillor is responsible to the Executive Council for the management of the affairs and, where appropriate, the operation of the departments falling within the administrative sector for which he is responsible. He keeps the Executive Council regularly informed.

Sous réserve des dispositions du chapitre II du présent titre, le conseil exécutif peut charger, dans le cadre des prérogatives qui lui sont conférées par le présent chapitre, chacun de ses membres d’animer et de contrôler un secteur de l’administration par une délibération prise dans les dix jours suivant l’élection des membres du conseil exécutif.

Les attributions individuelles des conseillers exécutifs s’exercent dans le cadre des décisions prises par le conseil exécutif. Chaque conseiller exécutif est responsable devant le conseil exécutif de la gestion des affaires et, le cas échéant, du fonctionnement des services relevant du secteur administratif dont il est chargé. Il tient le conseil exécutif régulièrement informé.
