Article R1132-10 of the French Public Health Code

Genetic counsellors and trainees undergoing training to become genetic counsellors are subject to professional secrecy under the conditions set out in Articles 226-13 and 223-14 of the French Penal Code.

Secrecy covers not only what has been entrusted to them, but also what has been seen, read, heard, observed or understood.

The genetic counsellor instructs the persons assisting him/her of their obligations in terms of professional secrecy and ensures that they comply with them.

Les conseillers en génétique et les stagiaires en cours de formation de conseiller en génétique sont soumis au secret professionnel dans les conditions énoncées aux articles 226-13 et 223-14 du code pénal.

Le secret couvre non seulement ce qui a été confié, mais aussi ce qui a été vu, lu, entendu, constaté ou compris.

Le conseiller en génétique instruit les personnes qui l’assistent de leurs obligations en matière de secret professionnel et veille à ce qu’elles s’y conforment.
