Article R1132-11 of the French Public Health Code

The genetic counsellor shall apply and comply with the organisational protocols and, where appropriate, the management protocols defined by the prescribing doctor.

The genetic counsellor shall ask the qualified medical practitioner under whose responsibility he/she acts for further information whenever he/she considers it useful, in particular if he/she considers that he/she is not sufficiently informed.

The genetic counsellor communicates to the qualified medical practitioner under whose responsibility he/she intervenes any information in his/her possession likely to contribute to the establishment of the diagnosis or to allow a better adaptation of the treatment according to the patient’s state of health and its evolution.

Le conseiller en génétique applique et respecte les protocoles d’organisation, ainsi que, le cas échéant, les protocoles de prise en charge que le médecin prescripteur a définis.

Le conseiller en génétique demande au médecin qualifié en génétique sous la responsabilité duquel il intervient un complément d’information chaque fois qu’il le juge utile, notamment s’il s’estime insuffisamment éclairé.

Le conseiller en génétique communique au médecin qualifié en génétique sous la responsabilité duquel il intervient toute information en sa possession susceptible de concourir à l’établissement du diagnostic ou de permettre une meilleure adaptation du traitement en fonction de l’état de santé du patient et de son évolution.
