Article R1222-18 of the French Public Health Code

The function of whole blood collection includes the actual collection operation and participation in monitoring its proper performance.

Only the following may perform this function within a blood establishment under the direction and responsibility of the doctor mentioned in article R. 1222-20:

1° Nurses ;

2° Persons meeting the conditions set out in article R. 1222-21; these persons must also be in possession of a valid certificate of training in emergency first aid, the content of which is defined by order of the Minister for Health.

Article R1222-18

La fonction de prélèvement de sang total comporte l’opération de prélèvement proprement dite et la participation à la surveillance de son bon déroulement.

Peuvent seuls exercer cette fonction au sein d’un établissement de transfusion sanguine sous la direction et la responsabilité du médecin mentionné à l’article R. 1222-20 :

1° Les infirmiers et infirmières ;

2° Les personnes remplissant les conditions fixées par l’article R. 1222-21 ; ces personnes justifient, en outre, de la possession d’une attestation de formation aux gestes et soins d’urgence, en cours de validité, dont le contenu est défini par arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé.
