The Scientific Advisory Board is convened by its Chairman, or at the request of the Managing Director, or at the motivated initiative of at least one third of its members, or at the request of the Board of Directors. It meets at least twice a year.
The Scientific Advisory Board is responsible for :
1° To give an opinion on the institution’s research and expertise guidelines and on the Agency’s scientific partnership and programming policy;
2° To assist the Agency’s management in drawing up the procedure for calls for projects;
3° To validate and supervise the process for evaluating the Agency’s research activity and, on the basis of the results obtained, to issue recommendations to the management;
4° Giving an opinion on the list, operating rules and appointments of members of the specialised scientific committees provided for by Decree no. 98-695 of 30 July 1998, amended by Decree no. 99-242 of 26 March 1999, relating to the special status of the bodies of researchers at the French Food Safety Agency;
5° To give an opinion on the composition of the eligibility and admission panels for competitive examinations for access to the Agency’s corps of research fellows and research directors and, in general, on matters falling within its remit under the same decree;
6° To give an opinion on the composition of the specialist expert committees mentioned in Article L. 1313-6 and the conditions for organising collective expert appraisals;
7° Giving an opinion on research and scientific and technical support programmes.
It assists the Agency in its mission to contribute to the definition of national and European research policies. It may make recommendations on any scientific and technical issue falling within the Agency’s remit. These recommendations are forwarded to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The Scientific Advisory Board is consulted on the provisions of the Agency’s internal regulations that concern it.
