Article R1321-2 of the French Public Health Code

Water intended for human consumption must, under the conditions laid down in this section :

– not contain a number or concentration of micro-organisms, parasites or any other substances constituting a potential danger to human health ;

– comply with the quality limits, relating to microbiological and physico-chemical parameters, defined by order of the Minister for Health.

Les eaux destinées à la consommation humaine doivent, dans les conditions prévues à la présente section :

– ne pas contenir un nombre ou une concentration de micro-organismes, de parasites ou de toutes autres substances constituant un danger potentiel pour la santé des personnes ;

– être conformes aux limites de qualité, portant sur des paramètres microbiologiques et physico-chimiques, définies par arrêté du ministre chargé de la santé.
