The water supply installations referred to in article R. 1321-43 must be designed, built and maintained in such a way as to prevent the introduction or accumulation of micro-organisms, parasites or substances constituting a potential danger to human health or likely to cause a deterioration in the quality of the water intended for human consumption distributed, such that the requirements set out in articles R. 1321-2 and R. 1321-3 are no longer met.
After treatment, the water distributed must not be aggressive, corrosive or interfere with disinfection.
Under normal conditions of maintenance, these installations must ensure water circulation at all points. They must be capable of being completely cleaned, rinsed, drained and disinfected.
The parts of the water distribution network reserved for a use other than human consumption must be distinguished from those determined by this section by means of special signs. Information must be displayed at all public access drawing points supplying water intended for purposes other than human consumption, to indicate the danger involved.
Orders issued by the Ministers of Health and Construction, after consultation with the Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail, define :
1° The technical procedures for applying the provisions of this article and any deadlines for bringing existing facilities into compliance;
2° The specific hygiene rules applicable to wells, fountains and springs accessible to the public, as well as those concerning tanks and tarpaulins used temporarily to provide users with water intended for human consumption.
