Natural mineral water must not contain a number or concentration of micro-organisms, parasites or any other substance constituting a danger to public health.
It must also meet microbiological and physico-chemical quality criteria defined by order of the Minister for Health and, in the case of packaged water, by joint order of the Ministers for Consumer Affairs and Health.
The physico-chemical constituents subject to a regulatory concentration limit are naturally present in natural mineral water and do not result from contamination of the source or from treatment.
The requirements indicated above are respected at the following points of compliance:
1° At source, for all water quality parameters, taking into account the subsequent implementation of authorised treatment;
2° And, as the case may be, at the point where the water is packaged, at the points of thermal use or at the points of distribution in public refreshment areas.
During its marketing, packaged natural mineral water meets the quality criteria defined above.
