Article R1331-59 of the French Public Health Code

All rooms in collective accommodation that are occupied separately or used individually, and all tourist accommodation, have a point of running drinking water, the temperature of which can be regulated for hot water, which is permanently supplied and installed above a regulatory device for the evacuation of waste water.

By way of derogation from the previous paragraph, in local authorities governed byArticle 73 of the Constitution, the supply of hot water is not required.

Toute pièce d’un hébergement collectif occupée isolément ou affectée à un usage individuel et tout hébergement touristique dispose d’un point d’eau courante potable, dont la température peut être réglée pour l’eau chaude, alimenté en permanence et installé au-dessus d’un dispositif réglementaire pour l’évacuation des eaux usées.

Par dérogation à l’alinéa précédent, dans les collectivités régies par l’article 73 de la Constitution, l’alimentation en eau chaude n’est pas exigée.
