The Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal within whose jurisdiction the headquarters of the department to which the judicial environmental officer is attached is located shall order the withdrawal or suspension of the authorisation for a period not exceeding two years, by order issued either on its own initiative or on a proposal from the Director General of the French Office for Biodiversity.
The Public Prosecutor shall first hear the judicial environmental officer, who may be informed of the case against him/her and be assisted by counsel of his/her choice.
The Public Prosecutor shall also issue a decision on the suspension of the authorisation.
The judge will first hear the judicial environmental officer, who may examine the file relating to the facts of which he or she is accused and be assisted by a counsel of his or her choice.

A judicial environmental officer whose authorisation has been suspended is automatically entitled, on expiry of the suspension, to the same prerogatives and obligations as those attributed to judicial police officers. The Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal within whose jurisdiction the headquarters of the department to which the judicial environmental officer is attached is located may, at any time, shorten the duration of the suspension.
After withdrawal, the authorisation is automatically withdrawn.
Once withdrawn, the authorisation may only be reinstated in the same way as it was originally granted.
