Article R1617-5-1 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

An interim imprest administrator is appointed:

1° In the event of the imprest administrator ceasing to hold office, pending the appointment of a new titular imprest administrator;

2° When the imprest administrator is absent or prevented from attending for a period exceeding two months. The temporary administrator is appointed by the authorising officer with the approval of the accounting officer. The interim administrator’s duties may not exceed a period of six months, renewable once. At the end of this period, it is the responsibility of the authorising officer to appoint an imprest administrator, with the approval of the accounting officer. The temporary administrator is responsible for collection and payment operations under the same conditions as the permanent administrator.

Un régisseur intérimaire est nommé :

1° En cas de cessation de fonctions du régisseur, dans l’attente de la nomination d’un nouveau régisseur titulaire ;

2° Lorsque le régisseur est absent ou empêché pour une durée excédant deux mois. Le régisseur intérimaire est nommé par l’ordonnateur sur avis conforme du comptable. L’intérim des fonctions de régisseur ne peut excéder une période de six mois, renouvelable une fois. A l’issue de cette période, il appartient à l’ordonnateur de désigner un régisseur titulaire, sur avis conforme du comptable. Le régisseur intérimaire est chargé des opérations d’encaissement et de paiement dans les mêmes conditions que le régisseur titulaire.
