Article R211-3 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

The application for a cinematographic licence is submitted by the producer of the work or document, or by an authorised representative, at least one month before the date scheduled for the first public showing of the work or document, in accordance with the following conditions:

1° In support of the application, the following must be submitted:

a) A copy of the exact and complete version of the work or document as it will be used;

b) The dialogue breakdown in its complete and definitive form;

c) A receipt for the provisional payment of the tax introduced by article L. 211-2;

d) Except for trailers, cinematographic works of an advertising nature and works or documents serving a major national or general interest cause, the registration number in the public film and audiovisual register;

2° In support of an application for a cinematographic exhibition licence for a foreign work or document in its original version, the French subtitle text of the version being shown in France must also be submitted.

Article R211-3

La demande de visa d’exploitation cinématographique est présentée par le producteur de l’œuvre ou du document, ou par un mandataire habilité à cet effet, un mois au moins avant la date prévue pour la première représentation publique de l’œuvre ou du document, dans les conditions suivantes :

1° A l’appui de la demande, sont remis :

a) Une copie de la version exacte et intégrale de l’œuvre ou du document tel qu’il sera exploité ;

b) Le découpage dialogué sous sa forme intégrale et définitive ;

c) Le récépissé de versement provisionnel de la taxe instituée par l’article L. 211-2 ;

d) Sauf pour les bandes-annonces, les œuvres cinématographiques à caractère publicitaire et les œuvres ou documents servant une grande cause nationale ou d’intérêt général, le numéro d’immatriculation au registre public du cinéma et de l’audiovisuel ;

2° A l’appui d’une demande de visa d’exploitation cinématographique d’une œuvre ou d’un document étranger en version originale, est également remis le texte des sous-titres français de la version exploitée en France.
