Article R213-2 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

The demand for payment ceases to have effect if the creditor’s bailiff notifies the third party of its release by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt.

It also ceases to have effect at the request of the debtor, on production of a certificate issued by a bailiff stating that a new judgment or agreement settling the effects of the divorce or legal separation by mutual consent has withdrawn the maintenance allowance or stating that, by virtue of the legal provisions, the allowance has ceased to be due.

La demande de paiement cesse de produire effet si l’huissier du créancier en notifie au tiers la mainlevée par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception.

Elle prend fin aussi à la demande du débiteur, sur production d’un certificat délivré par un huissier attestant qu’un nouveau jugement ou une nouvelle convention réglant les effets du divorce ou de la séparation de corps par consentement mutuel a supprimé la pension alimentaire ou constatant qu’en vertu des dispositions légales la pension a cessé d’être due.
