I.-The preventive monitoring of children includes in particular twenty compulsory medical examinations during the first eighteen years, as follows:
1° Fourteen during the first three years;
2° Three from the fourth to the sixth year;
3° Three from the seventh to the eighteenth year.
The timetable for these examinations is set by order of the Minister responsible for health.
II.-The examinations are carried out either by the child’s GP or by another doctor chosen by the child’s parents or by the persons exercising parental authority or the persons or services to whom the child has been entrusted.
Before the child reaches the age of six, these examinations may be carried out by a doctor from a maternal and child protection clinic or by a doctor from the national education system for the examination provided for in the fourth paragraph of article L. 541-1 of the Education Code.
III. – The content of the examinations referred to in I relates to the child’s age.The content of the examinations mentioned in I covers:
1° Monitoring the child’s growth and weight;
2° Monitoring the child’s physical, psycho-affective and neuro-developmental development;
3° Screening for sensory disorders;
4° Carrying out or checking vaccinations;
5° Promoting healthy behaviour and environments, in particular physical activity and sport;
6° screening for any contraindications to practising sport.
A detailed description of the content of these examinations may be included in the health record referred to in article L. 2132-1.
IV – The results of the examinations provided for in I are recorded in the health record and, where applicable, in the child’s shared medical file provided for in article L. 1111-14.
