The costs of social investigations ordered in relation to the exercise of parental authority are recovered by the Directorate General of Public Finances in accordance with the procedures and under the guarantees provided for criminal fines.
The party ordered to pay the costs may appeal against the provision of the decision relating to the settlement of these costs. In the absence of an appeal on the merits, the appeal, stating the grounds on which it is based, shall be lodged at the registry of the court from which the decision emanates, within one month of notification of that decision. It is brought before the Investigating Chamber.
In the absence of an order to pay costs, the costs of the social investigation are recovered against the party designated by the judge who ordered the investigation.
