Article R224-4 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

The safe may not be opened before the expiry of a period of fifteen days from the date of service of the summons to pay. However, the debtor may request that the safe be opened at an earlier date.
In the absence of the debtor, the forced opening may only take place in the presence of the owner of the safe or his duly authorised representative.
The costs are advanced by the seizing creditor.

L’ouverture du coffre ne peut intervenir avant l’expiration d’un délai de quinze jours à compter de la signification du commandement de payer. Toutefois, le débiteur peut demander que cette ouverture ait lieu à une date plus rapprochée.
En l’absence du débiteur, l’ouverture forcée ne peut avoir lieu qu’en présence du propriétaire du coffre ou de son préposé dûment habilité.
Les frais sont avancés par le créancier saisissant.
