Article R251-1 of the French Code of civil enforcement procedures

If there is only one creditor, the proceeds of the sale are remitted to that creditor up to the amount of his claim, in principal, interest and costs, within a period of one month at the latest from the date of the forced sale or, in the case of an amicable sale, from the date on which the price was paid. Within the same period, the balance is remitted to the debtor.
On expiry of this period, the sums due shall bear interest at the legal rate.

S’il n’y a qu’un seul créancier, le produit de la vente est remis à celui-ci jusqu’à concurrence du montant de sa créance, en principal, intérêts et frais, dans un délai d’un mois au plus tard à compter de la vente forcée ou, en cas de vente amiable, à compter du jour où le prix a été payé. Dans le même délai, le solde est remis au débiteur.
A l’expiration de ce délai, les sommes qui sont dues portent intérêt au taux légal.
