Article R3141-4 of the French Labour Code

In the absence of an agreement as provided for in Article L. 3141-10, the starting point of the period taken into account for the calculation of leave entitlement is set at 1st June of each year.
However, in professions where, pursuant to article L. 3141-32, the employer is required to join a holiday fund, the starting point of the reference year is set at 1st April.

A défaut d’accord prévu à l’article L. 3141-10, le point de départ de la période prise en compte pour le calcul du droit au congé est fixé au 1er juin de chaque année.
Toutefois, dans les professions où en application de l’article L. 3141-32 l’employeur est tenu de s’affilier à une caisse de congé, le point de départ de l’année de référence est fixé au 1er avril.
