The tasks of the National Agency for Continuing Professional Development are as follows:
1° To steer the system of continuing professional development for healthcare professionals, whatever their status or conditions of practice:
a) Assessing the organisations and structures that wish to present initiatives in accordance with the provisions of articles L. 4021-1 to L. 4021-2 ;
b) Evaluate, in conjunction with the Haute Autorité de santé, the implementation of continuing professional development methods, ensuring their scientific and educational quality;
c) Evaluate the impact of continuing professional development on improving practices and the efficiency of the system;
2° Contributing to the funding of actions within the framework of the multi-year priority guidelines defined in Article L. 4021-2, concerning self-employed healthcare professionals and healthcare professionals employed by health centres covered by the agreements provided for in Articles L. 162-5, L. 162-9, L. 162-12-2, L. 162-12-9, L. 162-14, L. 162-16-1 and L. 162-32-1 of the Social Security Code;
3° Providing financial management for the continuing professional development of self-employed health professionals under agreement and salaried health professionals in health centres under agreement;
4° Contributing, in accordance with the provisions of article R. 4021-22, to the funding of professional development initiatives for doctors in health and medico-social establishments as part of the priority multi-annual guidelines defined in article L. 4021-2;
5° Promote the continuing professional development system and inform organisations and structures likely to offer continuing professional development initiatives, salaried and non-salaried healthcare professionals and employers;
6° Ensuring the participation of universities in the system, in accordance with the provisions of article L. 4021-4;
7° Drawing up and implementing, in accordance with the provisions of 3° bis of Article L. 4021-7, an annual national plan for monitoring the continuing professional development system proposed by the Agency’s Director General and approved by the General Meeting of the founding members of the public interest grouping.
