Article R412-17 of the French Intellectual Property Code

The appeal shall be lodged by petition addressed to the First President of the Paris Court of Appeal by the applicant in person or by a lawyer duly registered at a bar.

If the applicant does not appear in person, he may be represented or assisted as provided in the first paragraph of this article.

Le recours est formé par requête adressée au premier président de la cour d’appel de Paris par le demandeur en personne ou par un avocat régulièrement inscrit à un barreau.

Si le demandeur ne comparaît pas en personne, il peut être représenté ou assisté comme il est dit au premier alinéa du présent article.
