Premises or areas reserved for the production, conversion or distribution of electricity are considered to present particular risks of electric shock, whatever the voltage, when protection against direct contact is provided by an obstacle or by distance or, in the case of low voltage, when protection against direct contact is not compulsory.
These rooms or locations are visibly marked and are equipped with devices designed to prevent access by unauthorised persons. Access doors to these rooms or areas must be closed and fitted with a locking system that can be opened freely from the inside.
The rules for access to these premises or areas are set out in Article R. 4544-6.
