The following are not considered to be personal protective equipment within the meaning of Article R. 4311-8:
1° Personal protective equipment designed and manufactured specifically for the armed forces or the maintenance of law and order;
2° Personal protective equipment intended for the protection or safeguarding of persons on board ships or aircraft, and which is not worn permanently;
3° Equipment for self-defence against aggression, such as aerosol dispensers and individual deterrent weapons;
4° Personal protective equipment designed and manufactured for private use against :
a) Weather conditions, such as headgear, seasonal clothing, shoes and boots, umbrellas;
b) Moisture, water, such as washing-up gloves;
c) Heat, such as gloves;
5° Helmets and visors intended for users of two- or three-wheeled motor vehicles;
6° Personal protective equipment that is subject to special regulations adopted pursuant toArticle L. 221-3 of the Consumer Code, the law of 24 May 1941 relating to standardisation and Title III of Book V of the Public Health Code;
7° Components of personal protective equipment intended to be incorporated therein and which are neither essential nor indispensable to the proper functioning of personal protective equipment;
8° Portable devices for detecting and signalling risks and nuisance factors.
