The equipment is installed or equipped in such a way as to prevent any risk of a person falling into the shaft when the carrier is not at the landing, by means of guards fitted with a device preventing any dangerous movement of the carrier until they are effectively closed and locked.
These guards are kept closed and locked while the carrier is moving until it stops. They are fitted with an emergency unlocking device accessible from outside the shaft.
Access to the shaft from landings other than the one at which the passenger compartment is located is impossible in normal service.
