Article R434-12 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

On receipt of a complete application for family reunification, the Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration (French Office for Immigration and Integration) will immediately issue a certificate stating that the application has been lodged, which will start the six-month period within which the administrative authority must make a decision.

Au vu du dossier complet de demande de regroupement familial, les services de l’Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration délivrent sans délai une attestation de dépôt de dossier qui fait courir le délai de six mois dont bénéficie l’autorité administrative pour statuer.
