I.-Orthoptists are authorised to carry out their activities in accordance with a written medical prescription, dated and signed by the prescribing doctor.
II.-When practising as part of an ophthalmologist’s practice, within a health establishment, in the health services described in Title II of Book III of Part Six, in army hospitals and medical centres or in occupational health services, the orthoptist may also perform the procedures mentioned in articles R. 4342-2 and R. 4342-4 to R. 4342-7, in application of an organisational protocol drawn up in advance, dated and signed by one or more ophthalmologists practising in these structures. This protocol mentions the names and professional addresses of the orthoptists concerned.
III – In the event of an emergency and in the absence of a doctor, the orthoptist is authorised to carry out the first necessary orthoptic procedures. A report of the procedures carried out under these conditions will be sent to the doctor as soon as he or she intervenes.
