Article R4451-40 of the French Labour Code

I.-When work equipment emitting ionising radiation is brought into service in the establishment and following any major modification likely to affect the health and safety of workers, the employer shall carry out an initial check to ensure that it is installed in accordance with the specifications provided, where applicable, in the manufacturer’s instructions and that it can be used safely.

II.-The employer shall check the integrity of sealed radioactive sources under the same conditions when they are not incorporated into work equipment.

III-This initial verification is carried out by an accredited body.

Article R4451-40

I.-Lors de leur mise en service dans l’établissement et à l’issue de toute modification importante susceptible d’affecter la santé et la sécurité des travailleurs, l’employeur procède à une vérification initiale des équipements de travail émettant des rayonnements ionisants, en vue de s’assurer qu’ils sont installés conformément aux spécifications prévues, le cas échéant, par la notice d’instructions du fabricant et qu’ils peuvent être utilisés en sécurité.

II.-L’employeur vérifie dans les mêmes conditions l’intégrité des sources radioactives scellées lorsqu’elles ne sont pas intégrées à un équipement de travail.

III.-Cette vérification initiale est réalisée par un organisme accrédité.
