Reducing the risks of exposure to artificial optical radiation is based in particular on :
° The use of alternative work processes which do not expose workers to artificial optical radiation or which result in less exposure;
° The choice of appropriate work equipment which, taking into account the work to be carried out, emits the least amount of artificial optical radiation possible;
° Limiting the duration and intensity of exposure;
° The design, layout and modification of workplaces and workstations;
° Technical means of reducing exposure to artificial optical radiation by acting on its emission, propagation and reflection, such as screens and enclosures;
° Appropriate maintenance programmes for work equipment and the workplace;
° Adequate information and training for workers.
