Article R4452-17 of the French Labour Code

Personal protective equipment is such that it reduces exposure to a level which does not exceed the exposure limit values defined in articles R. 4452-5 and R. 4452-6.

They are adopted after consultation with the social and economic committee, the occupational physician and, if necessary, with the assistance of the agents of the prevention services of the social security organisations and the health, safety and working conditions organisations mentioned in article L. 4643-1. They are chosen in consultation with the workers.

Article R4452-17

Les équipements de protection individuelle sont tels qu’ils réduisent les expositions à un niveau qui ne dépasse pas les valeurs limites d’exposition définies aux articles R. 4452-5 et R. 4452-6.

Ils sont adoptés après consultation du comité social et économique, du médecin du travail et, éventuellement, avec le concours des agents des services de prévention des organismes de sécurité sociale et des organismes de santé, de sécurité et des conditions de travail mentionnés à l’article L. 4643-1. Ils sont choisis en concertation avec les travailleurs.
